Dr. Comess is the Chair of the Department of Pathology at Eisenhower Medical Center. Dr. Comess is thankful for the excellent Pathology candidate that Mari recruited into her department. It has been with Dr. Comess direction that Eisenhower has one of the best Pathology Departments in the country.

For Dr. Comess pathology is so much more than just the study of disease – it’s an “incredibly broad and constantly growing field that is at once rewarding, fascinating and intellectually stimulating.”


James M. Hawkins, Jr, M.D., F.A.C.C.

In addition to his role as a cardiologist, Dr. Hawkins serves as medical director of Saddleback Heart institute & Wellness Center. A member of the medical staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center since the 1970s, his special interests include non-invasive cardiology procedures and management of cardiac services.

Dr. Hawkins attended the University of Maryland Medical School and completed his residency and fellowship training at LA County/USC Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American College of Cardiology.


Stephanie S. Hawkins, M.D.

Dr. Hawkins loves family practice for its diversity and challenges. While she enjoys the entire scope of her practice, her special interests include wellness and prevention, women's health, weight management, and pediatrics. She patterns her practice on educating her patients so that she can help them make decisions regarding their health. She went to Wellesley University in Massachusetts where she starred on the lacrosse, basketball, and soccer team. From there, Dr. Hawkins went on to UCLA medical school and did her residency at Sharp Grossmont Hospital.
